Patio Resurfacing in Melbourne

Patios take a beating. Summer bakes them, winter cracks them, and somewhere in between, a slab that used to look great turns grey, chipped, and about as inviting as a car park. The Pebble Mix Company fixes that. We resurface tired patios all over Melbourne with a pebble finish that’s built to last and looks pretty flash too. Same footprint — same weekend — just a patio you’ll actually want to sit on again.

What Is Patio Resurfacing?

In simple terms, we don’t rip anything out.
Your existing concrete stays exactly where it is. We prep it properly, then bond a layer of Pebble-Mix over the top — natural pebbles set in resin, worked in by hand until it’s smooth, solid, and properly stuck down. No jackhammers, no rubble, no three-week wait for fresh concrete to cure.
Just a surface that looks new, feels solid underfoot, and still grips when the sprinkler catches it at the wrong angle.

Where Pebble Mix Patio Resurfacing Works Best

Guests see this before they see anything else in the house. We give front patios and porches a finish that looks sharp on day one and still looks sharp after two hundred visits from the postie, the dog, and every muddy school shoe in the family.

Wet feet, chlorine, and full sun for six months straight. Pool decks don’t get an easy life. Pebble-Mix handles it without turning into a hot plate or a skating rink, which is more than we can say for the concrete it’s replacing.

Chairs scraping, drinks spilling, someone’s cousin doing card tricks till midnight. An entertaining area needs to hold up to actual use, not just photograph well. We build ours for both.

Steps wear out faster than almost anything else on the property, and a worn step is a step someone eventually slips on. We work extra grip into the finish so they hold up under daily traffic, not just for the first few months.

Signs Your Patio Needs Resurfacing

How do you know it’s time to resurface your concrete patio? Here are a few giveaways:

  • Cracks spreading across the surface
  • Colour that’s faded, patchy, or gone flat grey
  • Edges chipping or crumbling away
  • Water pooling instead of draining off
  • A surface that turns slippery the second it rains
  • Weeds pushing up through the gaps
No one wants to look at a tired, slippery eyesore. Let us sort it out for you this weekend.

Our Patio Resurfacing Process

Assessment

We send someone out to actually look at the site, not just quote off a photo. They'll check the slab, flag any problem spots, and plan the job around what your patio actually needs.

Preparation

Good prep is what makes or breaks a resurfacing job. That means clearing debris, cleaning the surface properly, and filling every crack before anything else happens.

Application

This is where the Pebble-Mix goes down. Our contractors work it in by hand, inch by inch, so there are no patchy spots and no missed corners.

Drying

It's touch-dry within 24 hours, but we ask you to hold off on furniture for a full 7 days. Give it that time, and it stays solid for years.

Inspection

Once it's cured, we come back and check the whole job over before we call it finished.

Resurfacing vs. Replacing Your Patio: Which Makes Sense?

Replacing a patio means jackhammers, skip bins, and a backyard you can’t use for a couple of weeks — plus a much bigger bill. Resurfacing skips most of that. As long as the concrete underneath is sound, with no major cracking or movement, we can bond straight over it and get you a patio that looks brand new for a fraction of the cost. Full replacement really only makes sense once the base itself has had it. For most of the patios we see around Melbourne, resurfacing gets the job done.

Why Choose Pebble Mix?

We’ve been at this for more than 50 years now.
It actually started back in 1973 as a DIY kit on the shelves of McEwan’s hardware. That idea turned into a business, and the business has spent five decades resurfacing patios, driveways, and pool decks in pretty much every corner of the city — inner suburbs, outer suburbs, wherever the work takes us.
The crew’s a lot bigger now, but the job hasn’t really changed. Turn up, do it properly, stand behind it. Fifty years of that builds a fair bit of trust, and we don’t take it for granted.
